My Unforgettable Experience at New York Fashion Week 2023

Hello to all my wonderful readers! This is Chaynika from Fashion Annex, and I am thrilled to share my
recent adventure at New York Fashion Week (NYFW) with you. A whirlwind of styles, celebrities, and
some truly awe-inspiring moments, my time at NYFW was nothing short of magical.
Upon my arrival in the bustling city, I was instantly captivated. The word WAOH might just sum it
up! The electrifying atmosphere, the spotlight on iconic designers, and celebrities dotting the city
landscape, it felt surreal to be right in the epicentre of it all. As someone who’s been to international
fashion weeks like HKFW and Tokyo FW, I anticipated a grand spectacle. New York, with its unique
blend of cosmopolitan flair, exceeded every expectation.
Every sunrise brought an escalating excitement. Celebrities, media, and a new wave of styles graced
the runway. Among the myriad of shows, I had the pleasure of attending the Runway 7 event, Kevan
Hall’s intimate S/S24 showcase, and the intriguing Flying Solo presentations. Each event had its own
charm, making it impossible to pick a favourite!
One trend that struck a chord with me was the prevailing emphasis on sustainability. At Fashion
Annex By Chaynika, we pride ourselves on crafting bespoke outfits that not only cater to our client’s
unique tastes but are also conscious of our environmental footprint. It was heartening to see a
similar ethos being reflected at the grandest stage of fashion.
In terms of styles, the runway had an abundance to offer. Gold metallics shimmered, while sheer
materials like tulle and chiffon whispered elegance. Corsets made a statement, and the delightful
balloon sleeves and intricate crochet work hinted at nostalgia while embracing modernity.
But if I had to choose one collection to wear right now, it would undeniably be Bekanvas. Their
lineup was an eclectic mix of fun, sophistication, and innovation—very much in line with my global
inspirations.
The diversity on the runway was also commendable. It mirrored the essence of Fashion Annex By
Chaynika: creating custom outfits that cater to individual uniqueness, regardless of age, size, or
background. From children to models above 60, fashion was celebrated in all its inclusive glory.
A special shoutout to the energetic model who danced down the Runway 7 show, epitomizing the
lively spirit of NYFW. Among the sea of attendees, I was lucky to have a quick chat with actor Vondie
Curtis-Hall. It’s these unexpected interactions that make NYFW even more enchanting.
The entire experience was an enlightening journey for me. The vibrancy of the American and
European fashion realms offered fresh perspectives, reaffirming my belief in global inspirations. It’s
crucial for us creatives to constantly evolve, and experiences like these help in pushing boundaries
and redefining our craft.
